This precious Fowler's Toad visits our deck every morning and every evening outside of our sliding glass door! I am very thankful that he is helping us maintain the bug population in a natural manner rather than spraying for bugs! Toads are extremely beneficial to people - one report estimated that an average toad eats almost 10,000 harmful insects during a three-month period.
Fowler's Toads and American Toads are very similar in appearance, however Fowler's Toads have no enlarged warts on their thighs and their "song" is a more nasally, short sound versus the American Toads high-pitched, longer trill. Additionally, the American Toad only has anywhere from one to three large warts on their backs. Fowler's Toads have many more warts as you can see on this little guy! I hope you enjoy the beautiful color and texture of our little friend. |

Hi Traci,
Nice to have friends, particularly one that helps keeps the insect population in control around the house. Very nice composition on this species that is new to me.
Regards,
Greg

Hello Traci
A super shot of this Fowler's toad.We have them in Ontario, but not in my area. The detail you have captured is excellent, and the colours are well saturated. The texture and patterns on the skin are wonderful.Thank you for posting this fine specimen.
