Lion-tailed Macaque
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Lion-tailed Macaque, so named for its tuft-tipped tail (say that fast five times), is the only macaque listed on the IUCN's red list of threatened animals. The remaining population in the wild is estimated at 2,500 scattered over several areas in Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The range has become increasingly isolated and fragmented by the spread of agriculture, construction of water reservoirs for irrigation and power generation, and human settlements to support such activities. They don't live, feed or travel through plantations. Habitat destruction and the animals' avoidance of humans, has led to a drastic population decrease.

Hello Greg,
Excellent close up of this handsome creature. I really tried saying Lion-tailed Macaque for 5 times....succeeded finally. You had good eye contact. A good POV & details of this healthy macaque whose hairs are well groomed & look shampooed :)
TFS.
