Carpet of Leaves
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This thick carpet of leaves is becoming increasingly rare sight in this area due to an invasion by a dense exotic understory bush, the European honeysuckle. This was taken at Mt. Airy forest, a city park comprising nearly 1500 acres. The land was formerly a farm that became scarred and eroded through careless land use practices.
The farmer selling the land to the park board in 1914 remarked that his farm was a good one when he first took it up but that since he had cleared off all the trees it had "slid down the creek and was to be found somewhere in the neighborhood of New Orleans." |

Hello Greg,
A lovely autumn scenery, nicely captured in backlight!
The contrasty tree trunks stand out well in the colours of autumn, and the carpet of leaves is amazing!
Greetings,
Pablo -
