| In Custer State Park, Custer, South Dakota, USA, a herd of 1,500 bison roams freely throughout the park, often stopping traffic along the 18-mile Wildlife Loop Road. The herd is one of the largest in the world. Bison can weigh as much as 2,000 pounds. |

I noticed the shedding and then looked at the date. They sort of look raggedy during the shedding season, but one can see the sleek look beneath their fur.
This is a nice shot of mother and calf, reminding me of Yellowstone. They are excellent at traffic jams, aren't they? Again, nice moment captured here. Would love to see a few facts about them as they are, to me, a rather curious creature.
Lovely :-)

How lovely to see them roaming freely like this. I have heard of their history and it is wonderful to know that their numbers are increasing.
Our local zoo had some of them a few years ago - I don't know where they are bow.
Thanks Carl for sharing this family photo with us

Hi Carl,
first, my congratulations to this very well composed and wonderfully peaceful picture of the Buffalo herd in spring. I hope it was not too dangerous to approach a mother and her young. Well done, Carl.
This picture creates a lot of flashbacks to the 19th century to me: Buffalo near-extinction hunting, Colonel Custer and the American indians.
My best regards
Dietrich
