I'm going out on a limb here (no pun intended), by trying to identify this precisely. I don't pretend to be a botanist or taxonomist of any sort, but judging by the date of the photo, the serrated leaves, the hairy twigs, and the red, cone-like cluster, it appears to fit the description found on http://www.ext.nodak.edu/extpubs/plantsci/trees/eb38-3.htm. I've categorized this under flowers and trees, although I realize that sumac is more correctly a shrub.
If I'm not correct on any of the information here, please advise.
Also, this is my first attempt at framing any posted photo. I used the stroke tool, text tool, and color picker from The Gimp in the process.

Jim, In my opinion, I would ditch this frame as the colors are a little off from the photo itself. The sumac is nice in focus but a little dark. Good try with the frame though, I have not attempted it yet.
