Ups and Downs in the White Cedar Swamp

| A hike through the white cedar swamp at the local nature preserve yesterday provided some striking accents to trees in their winter cover. We've had the sixth or seventh snowiest December on record in our corner of the world, and even the deadfalls look more interesting than usual. This shot caught my eye because of trees on the ground, trees falling, and trees in full, upright maturity, all within the frame. |

What a lovely find Jim...It surely reminds me of a walk in the woods back east so very long ago. I have a picture in my memory and this looks as though it could be one of them...Have a good News Year Jim. May you be blessed with good health and fun filled treasures thecoming new year...2008..I never thought I would make it this far..

Hello Jim
This is a very interesting shot for me,last year we had an unusual amount of rainfall in a short period of time which saturated the soil,followed by a strong gale and the result was this scene.Large trees toppled over because of the two coincidental conditions.They fell roots,soil and all,just like this.
Amazing the forces of Nature.
The shot is well composed and the added cover of snow gives an artistic look to it.
