A male black crowned night heron perched upon a snag at dusk. This year has been a good year for seeing water birds near madison. So far this year I have seen Great Blue Herons, Green Herons, White Egrets, Sandhill cranes and now Night herons at the pond in Middleton.
Night herons mostly fish when the light is poor and that makes them hard to photograph.
