Hi Ron,
This is a skipper of some sort. You can tell by the antennae that have turned up bulbous ends.
Regards,
Greg

Hello Ron,
I'm not sure whether this is a butterfly or a moth either butI'm quite 'sure' about the excellent photo quality:-).
Well done

Hi Ron,
Can't help you with the ID but it is a great shot! The colors are wonderful and there are so many of them. Beautiful wing markings and textures. Details are razor sharp and I love the natural background.

Hi Ron , no help here on an id , but it is certainly a well detailed photo of this rather rugged fellow.

Hi Ron,
this is a skipper, alright, no idea which one.
but you got it with all the details, the wings are wornout. may be the skipper is in its last stage. I would have prefered a vertical composition to make it much better image. TFS.

Excellent skipper macro Ron.
Nice colors, details and a well managed exposure, looks great against the diffuse green BG :)
Looks like a Silver-spotted Skipper to me (Epargyreus clarus).
Well done!
Howard
I reckon since I know of none better....well maybe Ram or Ivan, but Howard is usually right on. I wasn't aware of the Skipper in Ohio but if it is then so might it be:-) nicely done and quite ID'able for one with a knowledge. I would not have guessed Skipper...but only because this might be a completely different sub group of them...I'll stop back and see what the verdict is in a couple of days.

Amazing detail, here. I love the center of the body. I'm not sure if it is a shell or what, but I'm reminded of a catepillar...
The subject stands out very clearly. The DOF is great - it adds a bit of contrast, and, well, this composition is interesting. Thanks for sharing. :)
Very clean and clear shot. Wonderfully sharp!

Hi Ron,
I cannot presently give you an exact ID, however the give away to identify skippers ( a class of butterfly...Hesperideae ) is the end of the antennae which is hooked in a skipper as in your photo. Butterfly antennae are clubbed and moth antennae often feathered.
Thus its a butterfly and nmore specifically a skipper. Hope that helps.
Nice pic anyway.
best wishes Mike.
