El berrendo (Antilocapra americana) es un ungulado nativo de América del Norte. Se trata del único representante actual de los antilocápridos (Antilocapridae), una familia de artiodáctilos que hasta principios del Pleistoceno contaba con numerosas especies. Con el paso del tiempo, todos se extinguieron por diversas causas, dejando al berrendo actual como único vestigio de su presencia.
The Pronghorn (Antilocapra americana), is a species of ungulate mammal native to interior western and central North America. Though not a true antelope, it is often known colloquially as the Prong Buck or Pronghorn Antelope, as it closely resembles the true antelopes of the Old World and fills a similar ecological niche due to convergent evolution. It is the only surviving member of the family Antilocapridae. |
