[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A pair of macaws at the Henry Dorly zoo in Omaha.

"Macaws are large colorful New World parrots, classified into six of the many Psittacidae genera: Ara, Anodorhynchus, Cyanopsitta, Propyrrhura, Orthopsittaca, and Diopsittaca. They are the largest birds in the parrot family in length and wingspan, though the flightless Kakapo is heavier.

Parrots are zygodactyl, like woodpeckers, having 4 toes on each foot – two front and two back.

Their native habitats are the forests, especially rain forests, of Mexico and Central and South America. They are called guacamayos in Spanish and araras in Portuguese.

The majority of macaws are now endangered in the wild. Five species are already extinct, and Spix's Macaw is now considered to be extinct in the wild. The Glaucous Macaw is also probably extinct, with only two reliable records of sightings in the 20th century. The greatest problems threatening the macaw population are the rapid rate of deforestation and the illegal trapping of birds for the bird trade." Source (Wikipedia).

Nice pic but in my opp it would look better if the parrot behind was not blurry.

Well done Mike.
Vibrant color and well exposed mf.
Interesting composition with the lead macaw well focused and detailed..
PS - If I ever get my internet squared away I will post again soon. Can't seem to upload, and I'm dropping off the graphics at times. I need my satellite tweaked I guess..The techs are looking into it :(

Hello Mike,
A colourful couple well framed!
I like the profile pose, and the strong vivid colours are impressive...
A fine composition, where the front bird has very fine details in the plumage!
Greetings,

Hi Mike,
I missed this one and I can't undestand why. This is really a excellent photo with great clarity and details. The flash really helped to illuminate the parrot perfectly and gave him this nice twincle in the eye. Great work on the depth and the inclusion of the second in the back.
TFS,
Niek
