This big Golden Digger Wasp - Sphex ichneumoneus - hunts large crickets, which it parayzes to feed its brood. It's more than one inch long, but completely harmless, unless you handle it.

Yes! Even the rattlesnakes are harmless if you stay as far as possible from them.
The problem is that us, nature photographers, can't do that , we just can't help it.
