[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This little cutie ( Black and White Warbler ) surprised me by popping up infront of me. This image is full frame with only a tiny crop for composition and since these are just little Warblers you can image how close he was.

The Black and White Warbler and the American Redstart are very closely related and have distinctive foraging actions. The B&Ws will forage for insects in actions similar to a Nuthatch. They have a long decurved bill and long toes, a fairly short and square tail. They are always black and white stripped. As all Warblers they spend their time constantly on the move from twig to twig and like all other Warblers are not easy to photograph. Fortunately they are unlike some Warblers that insist on only playing at the tops of trees giving this photographer a sore neck and a lot of frustration, the Black and Whites are willing to play at a lower level hence making it a little bit easier to get a photo of them.

Hi Leslie, excelent capture and well done on the composition.
I find these warblers more approachable then most. This is one that hangs around my yard along with the Redstart, yellow rump, magnolia, yellow warblers.
Some have made their way here, I noticed them on Monday. Too high up, I didn't have my binocs with me so couln't identify them. This was at my fishing hole, not at home.

Belle et intéressante composition photographique pour ce superbe petit oiseau. Jolies couleurs et très bonne profondeur de champ bien maitrisée.

lucky moment! excellent capture and very well composed!

Pity we didn't see any of these on our ramble through the sanctuary, I'd have liked to shoot one of these little beauties ;-))
Great capture with excellent sharpness and good colours. Nicely separated from the bg which I know for a fact is no mean feat in the M'head Neck sanctuary :-)
