A pair of the infamous, but gorgeous, Japanese Beetle, Popilia japonica, on a wild rose flower.
The species was accidentally imported from Asia into the US and is now a very common pest. The larva feed in the ground on the root of a number of plants. the adult feeds on leaves, flowers and fruit, spoiling more than it actually consumes.
