[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
While up in New York on vacation, I visited the Roger Tory Peterson Institute which features many original photos and drawings from this world renown man. Dr. Peterson has produced many of the field guide books that are being used today by nature lovers all over the world.

I took this shot of a Red Squirrel while hiking one of the many trails that encompass a 27 acre nature refuge that honors this great naturalist.

Ron,

This is a gorgeous shot. From the composition (having the squirrel in between the two trees)—to the different kinds of bark detail (green and brown)—to the lunch in the little guy's hands. Excellent shot.

TFS,
MP

What an awesome shot, Ron...
I love your timing and the framing of this Red Squirrel.
Superb shot!

Hi Ron,

Well seen and executed shot. You have captured the fur texture with good detail.

Robin

Hi Ron,

Cute and exceptionally well macro shot of the red squirrel!
The sharpness is nearly ideal and so as the POV. Among well detailed body features are eyeas and nose....they are simply adorable. Overall, a wonderful composition!

Thanks for posting!

Hi Ron,

A good shot of the American Red Squirrel, good focus and dof, with good vibrant colours and showing good detail. I like the pose on the branch and the colour of the tree to the left compliments the squirrel. ( The British Red Squirrel has long ear tufts).

TFS regards Bill

Hola Ron,

creo que para esta fotografía sirven los mismos comentarios que te hice a la foto anterior. En esta añadiría lo bien que sabes aislar, mediante el enfoque, al motivo principal. Realismo en la profundidad e interesante saturación del color.

Good seeing you back Ron...I had not known of this place until now...and the Red Squirrels are getting very hard to find...especially ones who will perch so nicely on natural areas as this one did for you!

Hi Ron,

Good job catching this little guy, a very attractive composition, nice exposure and attractive colors. I tried photographing them a couple times back when I was still using film, and basically wasted a bunch of film, as they would always move right when I shot. That was up in NE Minnesota where I used to go fishing every year, haven't been back since getting decent digital equipment.

Hi Ron,

This is picture perfect!! The pose on the branch between the two different colored trunks are marvelous. Holding the pine cone is priceless. A beautiful Red Squirrel with excellent colors and details. Love the whiskers and eye. A beautiful setting and composition.

Jane

Wonderful capture of this little guy eating his lunch. You got the exposure of this little guy perfect, not any easy feat with the amount of vegetation (branches, etc.) around him. Composition is great... :) TFS Ron...

Hello Ron,

I notice that the American red squirrel is different from the Eurasian variety, most visible is the white ring around the eyes!
Seems like this fellow has found a juicy cone for his meal...
Excellent details in the little fellow, a fine pose in the natural environment!

Greetings,
Pablo -
