[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
When I took this photo I didn't see the spider hiding underneath. I just liked the way the sunlight seemed to illuminate parts of the fungi.

This image was taken in July near Jamestown New York. The weather had been very damp and there were quite a few mushrooms growing throughout the woods.

Hi Ron,

That's an extremely attractive composition, and you've used the light really well. Speaking of the light, it looks very warm, and I'm wondering if the light was really that yellow?

Those appear to be Oyster Mushrooms, Pleurotus ostreatus, a choice edible, if you can beat the bugs to them. The little black bugs visible in your shot often spoil the mushroom for human edibility, unless a few little bugs in your mushrooms don't bother you. :-)

And that's a Harvestman/Daddy Long Legs, under the mushroom, and they are not actually spiders, just close relatives.

Thanks,
John

Hi Ron
Another superb photo of a mushroom...Excellent natural color...Like the spider, adds to the composition...TFS
