While walking along Pine Creek in the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon area, Rosie and I came upon these bright red Staghorn Sumac bushes. The contrasting color of the bushes to the surrounding vegetation caught my attention, so I just had to take a shot.

The beautiful little creek meandered through the steep canyon, where once in a while you would see rainbow trout come to the surface to check out some unsuspecting insect that happened to fall into the current.

We had a great three days enjoying all the lovely leaves, sights, sounds and smells of the fall season. The weather was perfect, not to hot and not to cold. As baby bear put it, it was just right!!

I love staghorn sumac.... just not in my yard thank you. They are gorgeous in the fall but can quickly overrun an area. Nice colors, exposure and sharpness...

Such a beautiful forestscape in fine fall colours Ron, captured expertly with good exposure and DOF to ensure a great feeling of depth. TFS this fine image.
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hi Ron,

A nice shot of the Sumac, it sure is brilliant at this time of year. Looks like a very pretty spot there.

Ahhhhh. Now this is an image which inspires me to not only eyes but to my ears and nose..I can smell the dusky slightly damp smell almost outweighed by the dried leaves and chill in the air..and..and...a two to three times inspiration Ron...Now I shall post tomorrow one I did today in same genre but slightly different....almost bob signature...I love Autumn...it gives way to Thanksgiving, then to the Birth, The onto the other most high Holidays...Life is good

Hi Ron,

In the middle of the winter I live in the right place. Not so in the autumn. Especially not when I see a scene like this. These Sumacs growing alongside the creek are gorgeous. The colors and shapes are wonderful. They looks so marvelous surrounded by the other leaves with the muted colors.

Hi Ron,

Without the sumac, this shot is a very nice woodsy image. But, with the vivid, reddish orange sumac bushes, your photo is transformed into an incredibly colorful display. Very well done! I enjoyed viewing it very much!
