Nice shot Angela,
I tried to get online and view some sites that show hawks in flight and the best I came up with is a juvenile Redtailed Hawk.
You captured him very well, the wing and tail patterns are sharp and detailed. I'm sure there are many people out there who at first glance could positively identify it for you.

Hi Angela, I am no expert; I'm using a book (Field Guide to the Birds - Donald and Lillian Stokes), but based on what I'm seeing I would agree with Ron. It looks like a Redtail (immature) to me as well. The shot is good, you have captured decent detail and colour on this guy with nice stopped action in his flight. I like your positioning, and you have a great contrast between the hawk and that sky.
Thanks, John
Very good Angela,
This is a very good in-flight shot of a Hawk. Good composition, sharp details, very good lighting and colours.
