Harlequins (Histronicus histronicus)
In my opinion one of the most beautiful ducks there are. The famous location in New Jersey is Barnegat Light where they winter along the jetty (they do like rocky shorelines). Every birdwatcher/photographer knows that place and thousands of harlequin photos must be have been taken here. The key is to have the ducks do something interesting. I my case I had a helper, somebodies little dog flushed them while I had the camera on the group (in panorama setting!). Just luck (for me). |
