Life And Death In The Wild
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
While I was at the pond shooting wildlife, I saw this scene unfold. This Great Blue Heron flew in and grabbed one of the little baby ducklings right our from under it’s mother’s clutch. The mother duck tried to fight him off, but to no avail. He flew off with it down to the end of the pond where he promptly swallowed it alive
and whole.
This looks cruel to us, but this is life in the
wild. The strong always win. |

Hi Bill,
this is a great sample of a wildlife photo..
nice work..
Hello Bill,
Impressive shot, great timing and perfect composition. Despite it is the life in the wild, I would not like to see it and to hear the duckling... Well done,
Catherine
great capture, regards..

Terrible capture of this scene of life.Verry good picture.Congratulation.Alin.
Hi Bill,
Perfect timing and composition. 1/500 was the best. The scene is all frozen with a slight motion blur on the tip of the wings to show the movement. Couldn't be better. Those scenes happen fast. Getting it with the proper setting is a chalenge.
It is good you show this. Because herons diet consist mainly on fish, people tends to forgot they can feed on everything alive, even much larger than this small duckling.
