[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This Canada Goose came in wild and loud.

Canada Geese are large birds, 20 to 50 inches long with a wingspan of 50-68 inches.

Canada Geese are most easily identified by their long black neck, with a black head, crown and bill. They have a contrasting white cheek and throat area. Their undertail coverts are white. Their back, upper wings and flank are dark brown with a lighter brown (sometimes, nearly white) breast and belly. They have a short black tail and black legs with black webbed feet.

Canada Geese cover a wide range across North America. Canada Geese in different areas may be different sizes, have different vocalizations or have somewhat different coloring than those in other areas. All groups have the characteristic long black neck, head, crown and bill and the white cheeks.

The smallest Canada Geese (called "cackling geese" because of their high-pitched vocalizations) are only 1/4 the size of the largest Canada Geese (called "honkers").

Wow, what a great picture ! Your timing was perfect and you have frozen the bird in a fantastic pose ! I love the open wings, the open beak where we can see the pink tongue ! :-) Sharpness and details are excellent, colors are nice and natural, composition and POV are splendid, colors are very natural and pleasant. Hello Bill,
Beautiful scene of this landing goose. Fantastic timing, pose, POV and composition. Good sharpness, details and natural colours.
Regards,
Peter

Hi Bill, this is very excellent timing and positioning in the capture of this goose. Your speed at 1/1600 has frozen the action very well. I especially like the capture of that tongue. I'm not sure what your post processing is. It makes for a very dynamic photograph but it looks like the contrast and sharpening may be just a tad heavy. Of course this might be a personal choice on your part. White balance and capture of the highlights is very good.

Thanks, John

Super capture Bill!!
Love the splashes in the water where one had just taken off from, also the wing and tongue action of this very excited Canada Goose. Eye-catching image!! TFS.

What a dynamic shot, Bill.
Fantastic sharp details on this moving maniac!
The pose is amazing, and the water splashes really add to the action.
I love that crooked neck and that open beak, and the wing in the FG almost touching the water.
Really excellent image!
TFS. : )

Great action shot, love the frozen trail from your fast shutter speed, makes one wonder what's exactly going on in the scene. Well done. Keep on snapping!
Paul :)
