Matchweed / turkey tangle / Capeweed plus lots of other common names.
Phyla nodiflora.
Verbenaceae.
Matchweed derives from appearance of flower head as a match head. Found in moist sandy areas.
This one photographed in wetlands near Naples Florida.
Although originates in central and Southern America I have also found this in Northern Greece in Epirus near Albanian border. |
