Elk Neck State Park lies at the northeast corner of Maryland and occupies the tip of a small peninsula jutting out into the Chesapeake Bay.
On this warm September day, the place was alive with bugs of all sorts! On a little patch of milkweed were dozens of kinds of butterflies and wasps. A few monarch caterpillars - the last for this season, were getting ready to enter the next phase of their life cycle. In another 2 weeks this caterpillar would transform into its famous butterfly morph and then be on its way south for the winter!

Hello Kaustubh
Bienvenu sur le site de TN
une très belle photo. J'aime les couleurs et le focus net sur ta chenille, Son environnement ajoute beaucoup d'inérêt à cette belle photo.
Merci et au revoir...JP!

Hi Kaustubh, this is a very good shot of the Monarch caterpillar. Your title is very apt for this shot. I like how you've caught it on the milkweed (it's food) and it is definitely feeding well. The colour on this guy is very good, very natural looking and you have him and the plant in good sharp detail. The curled upside down pose he's given you is a good one.
Thanks, John
