Dragon Taking a Break

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I shot this at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center near Austin, Texas during a trip to that area May of 2007.
I did not have my Macro lens with me but this little guy seemed very content to just hold a pose for me while I shot him at max telephoto for the lens I had (125mm) bent over with my elbows into my knees. I just love the coloring of this “dragon”. I cropped the image down to load up here. |

Hello David. welcome to TN. Dragonfly is one of my favorite subject and you have composed it well here perched on diagonal branch. The background is pleasantly muted but a bit shaky on the focus especially the head area. A deeper depth of field will take care of this issue. Very well done and best regards. Jusni

Hi David,
Nice capture of this Dragonfly, looks very similar to our Blue Skimmer, I have to be honest I haven’t tried using a macro to capture shots like these, I tend to use my zoom so I don't have to get so close, very good POV, and I like the diagonal line you've created with the branch, just might be a tad soft, but other then that well done,
All the best Cheers Rick :)
P.s A warm welcome to Trek Nature mate just realised its your first posting..
