Hummingbird

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
A hummingbird in our garden in Cedar Park, Texas Hill Country.
A large trumpet vine is growing along the fence and the many flowers attract hummingbirds.
I used an EF 1.4x II extender for the lens, and the built in flash on my 20D.
Among the many pictures I have of the hummingbirds, this is my favourite. Though not technically perfect in any way, it is a picture that I enjoy looking at. It is more a painting than a photograph.
Unfortunately I do not know the name of this bird - maybe someone can help? The back of the bird sometimes seem to have a hint of metallic green, but I may be mistaken. The bird is very shy of the camera. |

Beautiful photo. Well captured. I like the way there's a slight blurr on the wings, due to the speed. Lovely.
Sorry, I canīt help you, but I find these hummingbird very beautiful. Perfect timing. Good job.
Nice action shot. Good light. Background has some noise. Lovely colours. Thanks.
Lovely, lovely shot. It has an ethereal feeling to it. Is your visitor a broad-tailed hummingbird, maybe? We only get ruby-throated and an occasional ruffous here in Ohio, so my ID skills for other species are third-hand.
I agree with you Tage, there is something about this photo although not technically perfect, just makes one smile and feel good. Maybe it's the color of the flower, or the amazing still motion shot of the speedy hummingbird, or the lovely light quality you've captured here. Whatever it is, it does make one feel good to gaze at it, what more can one want from a photo? Thank you for sharing this very artistic presentation of a hummingbird. I can barely see the ones in my yard, much less catch a photo of one!
