Wow what a good neighbor to have today Howard! A rainbow of a bird.This kind of bird is what makes 'watching' a fun sport. Although as a child I only observed nature...I didn't specifically go out on any given day to find say birds....as I tend to do now....As a child I could go from big bird to lake to path to creepy crawly things...I spent most of my days trekking the woods by our home...sometimes I ate breakfast and would not return till dinner. I suppose I was a worry to mom and dad but they never showed it. A beautiful bird as I say and a memory for me in a few ways...reminds of others so coloured...and of course as a single digit child I could see 20/20 or maybe better..so this is the way in which I saw and see this image today.

well - blue, red, green, yellow and all colors inbetween. excellent and technically perfect shot. i wonder if i will see

An opportunity well taken, Howard!
I wouldn't hesitate at all to take another fine shot of this striking Painted Bunting. Shows up beautifully against the OOF fresh leaves and the composition is just right, as is the pose and POV.

Hi Howard

Oh my, this one is even better than the previous postings and that took some doing. I think when the Creator completed the job of creating all the birds; this must have been the final model. He must have taken all the colours on the palette and mixed it into one wonderful little bird. What a dazzling range of colours. Then one day He did another remarkable thing by sending a whole flight of these birds to the Texas garden of a man named Howard Cheek. This was just because He knew that Howard is such a brilliant photographer and he would make excellent use of the opportunity to capture these beauties in all their amazing grace and glory.

Hi Howard,
I missed a lot of photos during my extended break, but the fun thing of this site is that there are always new photos uploaded. So i haven't seen the previous photos of this stunning bird, but I can imagine that they all looked as beautiful as this one. I really like the extra depth in this photo created by the twig running from the top front toward the back bottom. The exposure and details on the bird are spot on.

That's one beautiful bird, Howard. Wonderfully captured, as usual. I love his placement in front of the light green leaves. Just right on the DoF, too. Maybe just a bit of flash fill, but not enough to flatten the natural light?
