[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A spring of unusually heavy rains resulted in some record flow in the streams of the mountains of West Virginia. This is the Blackwater River, just downstream from Blackwater Falls. The mist in the photo is spray from the falls. The water is stained from tree debris from the dense spruce and hemlock forests it flows through en route to the falls. Normal flow around this area is less than 200 cubic feet per second. On this day it was approaching 2100 cfs.

Hello Kirby,
Magnificent sight and excellent choice of point of view. The trees are shown with good sharpness across the mist provocated by the falls. This picture looks like a 19th century romantic landscape painting. Really well seen.
