| This American Alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) is actually not swallowing something big, but is rumbling, that is making deep bellowing, rolling sounds to establish and defend a territory. I was lucky to get them all displaying together on an early, foggy morning at the famous Anhinga Trail in the Everglades. I wished I could have shot from ground level but did not want to climb into the water (call me a coward). |
