[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I just returned from a three day backpacking and bird research trip in Denali National Park, Alaska. Yesterday my field assistants and I spent the afternoon hiking to the top of a small mountain overlooking the Savage River basin. Storms were rolling in and out as we made the 2500 foot climb to the top. We were rained on and drenched more than once, but it was all worth it when we arrived on the summit ridge to the most spectacular rainbow I have ever seen. The colors made a huge, bright sweeping arc below us, which contrasted remarkably with the with stormy mountains behind. And the best part was, that the three of us, miles and miles from the nearest human being, were the only ones to see it. It is experiences like this that keep me returning to the backcountry.

Incidentally, this photo has absolutley no artificial saturation, with the exception of some very minor levels work in PS, this is the same as the RAW image that came out of my camera.

Superb image, David! It is very rare that we get to see such a clear and complete rainbow...and you managed to capture it very well. Truely amazing.

Bravo encore, j'ai vu l'autre photo et je dois dire que les deux sont spectaculaires. Je préfère celle cadrée plus large parceque plus lumineuse mais cette version est très intéressante en rapprochant le lac. Merci,
