| I made this photo last evening at a local botanic gardens. July in Alaska is when the flowers, both wild and domestic really pop and the gardens are no exception. After spending quite a bit of time, vainly trying to get decent images of bees on flowers I just began to stroll around and finally found this little fly (I believe it is in the family Vespidae, but if someone knows better let me know) gathering pollen off the center of this Cosmo. Every time I tried to approach with my tripod it would fly off hover and then take a few minutes to return. Finally he got used to me and came back to the flower, landing briefly atop the petals before descending onto the center of the flower. I like this one best of the several I took. But let me know what you think. |

Hi David, great macro with good composition, colors and focus.

Hi David,
it's a lovely shot, I like the brilliant colours. If you could use a flash, you have higher exposure for better DOF ot have also sharpness on the wings. Try it the next time you have the luck to see such a pretty hoverfly. Bye bye

I love the color of the flower, and think this is one great shot of a bug. A little blurry but that just makes me like it all the more. Great photo
