[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo was taken at Fish Creek near Hyder Alaska, This is mom and one of her three cubs feeding on chum salmon. This bear family came in late just as we were about to leave and stayed giving us a real show. These captures are very dark and lack details but I still hope you think they are worth posting if not I'll stop. Sometimes photos mean more to the photographer because of the memories they return. This was not our first sighting of a grizzly, but definately the closes and the family was just outstanding to watch a listen to

Hi Rick
I agree about sometimes the photo doesn't turn out as well as we hope but the subject is something very special. I'm glad to see mom and baby in such good condition. Nicely captured ... even in the lower light condition. Keep those photo's coming!
Janice

Hello Rick,
It must have been a fantastic experience to see these. Your capture is very nice although a bit too dark for my liking. I hope you don't mind the workshop? Excellent composition!
TFS and regards, Ulla

Hello Rick

It's a great capture even in lower light.I like the fish at the side of the river bank too.Nicely done in natural surroundings, you have captured bears doing what bears do.TFS

hi rick!
as your text say
the feeling counts here
good work!

Hello Rick,
This is a very interesting action catch. Again, a beautiful scenery of wild life. I have never had this chance to see bears in the wild like this. I think that the WS gave good result for brightness but it is a non less a precious capture with good composition, POV and moment caught. Well done! :) Thanks,
Claudine

Hi Rick,

YES, they are worth posting. What a marvelous thing to witness. Thank you for sharing them with us.

Jane

All of my photos mean more to me than to anyone else as they are a record of where we went and what we did. I do not do photography for photography's sake. We've been to Hyder several times but not during a salmon run. I am jealous. We have seen grizzlies there even so. This is a great capture of the pair. I like their relative positions... facing each other and sharing the fish. We are wondering how crowded it was there in early September... in town and in the campgrounds. We would like to come up just after our Labor Day (first Monday in September). I tried an alternate technique to lighten up the shadows a bit.

Hi Rick, lucky bears they get to eat fresh and delicious salmon,I get to have canned yuck instead.Although this photo is dark the subject matter more than makes up for any other weakness otherwise. So please show us some more pictures, warts and all because to date so much of what you have uploaded is very entertaining. Bob

Holy mackerel! I mean holy salmon!

Rick, this forum is about learning about NATURE... not about being or becoming the best lens handler! ;)

This is a wonderful bit of natural history! Including a day in the life of bears, and in the death of more than a few fish. I think a PP workshop could lighten the photo a bit, and at the same time bring these bears forward... Some of the surrounding is not needed. It also allows for a compo along the diagonal from UL to LR. Take a look at one possibility.

Are these bears grizzlies? I see humps, but am not 100% sure. Tfs, J.

PS Don't tell me your company has a field office in Alaska also ;)
