The first bird shot you've posted since June! It's good to see a change not that your other shots are boring or anything; far from it ;)
A superb shot of this unusual Puffin of which not many photos of are posted on TN.
+++ Outstanding sharpness and detail showing every feather. Decent colours and perfect lighting. Great composition and a good POV.

What a stunning and perfect portrait!
I really love pretty much everything about this shot: the pose of the puffin, the impeccable DOF that you used when you took this and also the POV from where the picture was taken.
The sharpness here is absolutely flawless...but that is the only way expected from you... and the vibrant colors here enhance all the features of the lovely bird.
Spot-on exposure and a very nice and dramatic composition created by the great close-up.

Where abouts in Alaska did you take this shot? - I have seen these and Horned Puffins on my trip some years ago, but not so close. I am planning a trip to the Pribilof Islands, but cannot fit it in for a couple of years.

This is one of the most original bird that I have ever seen; what a stunning specie! He looks like he has been to the hairdresser and make-up before you took the picture! He's ready to play a character in Batman movie. Congrats for this beautiful portrait, excellent!

another really great portrait techniqually perfect. Let me just make two comments: there is no catchlight in the eye, which is not really a problem as you can see the iris so well; the BG looks very bland to me.

Hello Paul,
This is of course a flawless bird portrait with perfect sharpness lighting and colors. I find it hard to imagine that these puffins can be approached so close as to be able to take a shot like this in the wild. This must be a captive bird: either that or you planned this in a hide placed near their nesting locality as this is breeding plumage. It would be interesting to know.
Whatever, it is a perfect portrait.
