[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Brown Bear (Ursus arctos) at Brooks Camp in Alaska, eating grass at the shore of the lake. This bear is near the end of the floating footbridge leading across the river to the camp; consequently the bridge is closed until the bear decides to move off. She hung around for over an hour.

Brooks Camp is famous for pictures of bears catching salmon at the top of the falls, but few bears actually do this. Most bears use more efficient means of catching fish, such as diving for them or splashing them into the air. They supplement their diet with grass and other greens growing along the banks. This picture is far more representative of the actual behavior of the majority of local bears than those showing bears catching leaping salmon.

Hello Christopher !
Such a great picture ! I love the pose of the bear, looking over his shoulder to watch you with a curious expression on his face. Natural colors, fine details, beautiful composition with a nice contrast between green grass and white sand. Very well done !
Valérie.
