Weather changes fast at the Eielson Visitor Center in Denali National Park in Alaska, and this guy decided to sit quietly in the rain.

Dave,
Welcome on TN!
Wonderful your first post, great sharpness details, lovely colors, good POV.

Hello Dave
Your photograph is very successful, the colors and contrasts are splendid.
I like much.
But I think that this bird is not a Arctic tern. Because the tern has the legs and the nozzle, red dark.
Perhaps a young gull?
In a friendly way
Laurent

Hello Dave

Welcome to TN. A good shot, but it is a shame you didn''t get the feet in the shot. The detail and OFF BG are very good.

This bird is not an Arctic Tern - it is some sort of gull - at firdt glance it looks like a kittiwake, but the legs are the wrong colour - however, there are many more expert birders than me on here so you will get an ID before long.

Keep posting.

Best wishes

James

Hi Dave,
welcome aboard TN! You present an truly remarkable picture of this bird (whatever it is, it looks like Larus canus, the Mew gull, to me. But don't rely on my opinion, I'm not good in this). The composition with asymmetry, a homogenous background and those rain streaks is quite a success. Too bad the feet are cut off, it's a no no in animal photography. Why? I don't know, but it seems to bring the composition out of balance. I hope to see more of your pictures soon, thanks for patricipating on TN.

By the way: you can change the title and all other content of a picture at any time under "Manage".
Best regards from Switzerland
Dietrich

Hello Dave, Welcome to TN.
Excellent detail and color with good DOF and just the right exposure! The only drawback would be the cut off legs, otherwise a great shot!!
