Oh WOW.... this is soooooo cool. I have never seen, let alone photographed, a tree frog in the Sononan Desert. I did not know they even existed. That has GOT to be very rare! This blows me away!

A story... and a picture...
I never knew Hieroglyphic Canyon existed until a photographer friend of mine, Susan Strom who is world famous for her lightning photography, told me about it. We were discussing petroglyphs, she knows about that to, and I'd asked her about local petroglyph sites and among others she recommended this place to me.

When hiking back down the trail from there one time I spotted a common collared lizard. It was about a foot long and its bright colors stood out brilliantly against the ground. It was about half way from the canyon to the parking lot.

I was so excited. I spent about an hour chasing it around trying to get a decent picture. I did not have very good camera equipment so it was a challenge to get close but I did manage to get the best picture of a lizard I've ever taken:
