| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
One of the most widespread cactus in Arizona Desert is Opuntia englemannii. An adaptable specie, thriving well in the hot air(40 - 60 celsius degrees) of the desert, but also being able to fully recover from the rare frosts (and snows) that may happen in the upper oarts of the mountains.
This prickly pear it is one of the backbones of the specific ecosystem that developed here. The springtime big yellow flowers suports many insects, bats and birds. The red, juicy fruits (like these in the photo) are eaten by many animals like tortoises, rats, deer, birds, insects...
Also the Native Americans know to apreciate these fruits. They are eaten fresh, cooked or canned (they do some traditional candies, with a pleasant sweet-sour taste). From time to time one may find them for sell in the markets and stores of the big city too (Phoenix). |

Hello Petru,
A very pleasing close-up!
Great colour palette, the shining red fruit are of course very eye-catching...
The plant is nicely framed and captured with fine details!

Hello Petru,
Interesting illustrative shot with a good note. I see yoiu're also not a frequent guest here. How are you these days?
Best greetings,

Hi Petru,
Good documental picture, showing these interesting and with good taste cactus fruits, called in Argentina "tuna", (...but with no fish taste) :).
I like the intense red color, different only in color with we have here.
Regards
Hernán
