[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today my daughter came running inside of the house yelling.. "Hummingbird, hummingbird.. Daddy come to see this big hummingbird, take a picture of him".. So I went outside and what a huge Hummingbird, Well it Was Gilded Flicker, but try to convince that to my daughter who loves hummingbirds..

The Gilded Flicker most frequently builds its nest hole in a majestic saguaro cactus. Northern Flickers, on the other hand, nest in riparian trees and very rarely inhabit saguaros. Gilded Flickers occasionally hybridize with Northern Flickers in the narrow zones where their range and habitat overlap.

Everton,
Great shot of this Flicker. Very sharp image with nice colours.
Reminds me of the Flickers we have here in Ohio but the coloration is a bit different. TFS

Your daughter must have been really excited at seeing this beautiful bird, Everton.
Never mind if she called it a Hummingbird.
Teach her more about birds, my friend.
It is a great capture of this colorful bird.
Very sharp focus and fine details.
TFS and regards.

Hi Everton,

I always laugh when I see Flickers at my hummingbird feeder! You captured this one perfectly. I love the colors! Wonderful details of the face and plummage. Amazing how many variants there are of the Flicker. I didn't know you had a daughter!
