[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I thought the group of Peach-faced Lovebirds that I saw at the riparian habitat not far from my house were accidental or they were just released there.. Than I saw a big flock in a another location then I started thinking from where they're coming from.. It's not uncommon to see colonies of Parakeets and Parrots in big cities.. But here in Phoenix in the middle of the desert it's very odd... But they're desert birds originally from the Namibia desert, so They like it here very much I suppose..


"Lovebirds were first reported in Phoenix in 1987, and there are now established colonies all over the East Valley from Cave Creek in the north to Chandler in the south. Their breeding biology partially explains why they have undergone a population explosion in the past decade. Adult plumage is attained at 4 months, they are sexually mature in under a year, and there is evidence they produce two broods per year. The second part of the population equation is that because they are non-indigenous, they have fewer natural predators than in their native savanna."

I would not have expected to find birds like this in the south west. Florida maybe. You have nice focus here and DOF is just right. Well Done.

Hi Everton, very nice colour in this shot of the Lovebird and an interesting note. Next we'll be hearing they are pests in Phoenix.

Your exposure is good and I like the depth of field you've selected giving us a "muted" view into his environment. Personal preference maybe, but I wouldn't have placed him in the centre of the shot like this. I would lose about an inch behind him to give him more room ahead (to the left in this case) than behind.

Such a cuti. Nice shot with good POV and composition. I think it is a little bit over sturated but it is not bad. it shows more color.

superb shot with wonderful and smooth colours,
excellent sharpness and details with an excellent POV but the
subject (for my eyes) is too in the center of the image Everton,
in the framing i would frame the bird more at the right of the image
and give more space where he is looking, in one word Everton,
for me the bird is framed too at the center of the image, TFS

I can't believe you saw this Lovebird in the wild! We keep looking at our feeder hoping to see one. You caught him in a wonderful pose. Wonderful colors and nice details. A Phoenix Lovebird - how exciting.

Good soft coloured portrait with nice shaarp details. Just like others have said: I should have cropped a part of the right side for a better composition. Very good POV.
