I took this shot this morning during a hike in the Gilbert Riparian Preserve, I took several shots of this Black-necked Stilt (Himantopus mexicanus) but I really like this one, Hope you like it too.

Thank you very much for the comments, here is the thing I only cropped vertically
indeed in the original photo I did not captured the entire reflection the bid was quickly disturbed and I missed another shot opportunity at that POV.. I know it would be awesome if I had captured the entire reflection.. maybe next time..

This species forages by probing and gleaning primarily in mudflats and lakeshores, but also in very shallow waters near shores; it seeks out crustaceans, arthropods mollusks, aquatic invertebrates and small fish.

Hello Everton,

I can imagine that you like this image and I really do like it very much also.
Very nice clarity, contrast and color contrast between the blue in the water and the pink color tones at the legs of the bird.
The reflection of the bird at the water surface is lovely also, but I really would like to have seen all of the bird reflected instead of just a part of it.
In this case I've got the feeling that the lower part is to tight cropped of while there is to much of empty space, wich not add to the entyre scene/image on top.
Nevertheles it's still a very nice image. TFS!!!

Best regards, Harry

Hello Everton,

I must echo the sentiments of Harry, exactly.
Perhaps you didn't quite capture all the reflection of the bird, it's easily done when you are concentrating on the bird.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Everton,

This Stilt and his partial reflection are wonderful. Excellent shot of the Stilt with wonderful details and colors. I love the beak dipping into the water and the wonderful circles he creates in the water.

Jane

Hello Everton,
Good timing to catch this reflection. The image is sharp in focus and well exposed. The pose and ripples show action well. TFS,

Hola Everton.
Una preciosa imagen, (lástima el reflejo que no aparece del todo).
Magníficos detalles, con un gran bg.
Saludos, JL.

Reflections on still water are a fascinating phenomenon, Everton.
The Stilt in this picture has been well captured with its sharp reflection on water.
The mythical Narcisus must have fallen in love with himself after seeing his own reflection on water like this bird, isn't it?
Very sharp and colorful image.
Thanks and take care.
