Opuntia engelmannii - Yellow Spined Prickly Pear
Hard to see in this image but this is a Prickly Pear blossom seen with a bee in it.
In the desert, pollination is a major activity in Spring. It is a battle between nature and building heat. In nature, flora need to be pollinated for survival. But heat increases rapidly during that time. Blossoms, quite literally, can wilt quickly in the harsh desert sun.
That is why it becomes important for bees to pollinate as quickly as possible... and they do! You can see that in this image where pollen is scattered all over the blossom due to intense activity. |

Very nice Macro. The pollen inside the flower adds a sort of a glitter effect. Nice focus and DOF. Well done.
What an unusual colour/tone of yellow...it is almost line yellow if there was such a thing, but I can see the colours are true to form....Super image...you are quite the pro in some areas..no doubt!
