Mendocino County is such a natural beauty in the whole. From Redwood trees tall and wide as anyone could imagine, to hidden creeks and ponds....from the normally foggy coast where "night fish" come in on the surf, or in the the sun or the banana belt as they call it, which is 20 degrees warmer and full of woods, streams and hidden secrets that few if any have seen. And on the other side of the coin, it was home of the largest redwood saw mill in the world.....the woods are filled with roads dug deep among flowers and plants which people come to see from around the world...for they only grow here in the dense forests....but...

.....what remains unchanged by man is the ocean shore. If it is changed, this is done by nature, not man, for no force of man can stop the force of the mighty Pacific Ocean. These seemingly harmless waves coming inwards in my picture, can turn to 25 foot waves on top of large surges which combined create a miniature tidal wave in continuous form upon the rocks, sands and any man made boundaries...which are eventually destroyed by the power of water.
I was never displeased with the ocean. If it was not foggy, I wandered the long coast and took pictures, had picnics with our young kids and walked the beaches with them picking up small shells and playing games with bullwhip seaweed. Jane watched back then, as she was not able to walk on the sand....results of polio which put her in an iron lung in 1952. She took pictures and made lunches. I walked and talked of unknown creatures in the ocean.....and we left in the late afternoon as the fog came in.

I am a torn man. Which do I love more....my wilderness in which I have learned so many skills and seen animals that few have ever laid eyes upon? ....or the ever changing shores of the constantly surging ocean, which on this day back in 1981......left me in a mood of deep thought and knowing that someone was in charge of this earth. Yet here I sit in front of a computer...and scanning old photos of things which I treasured, and take snaps of what wilderness today lies in this semi-city called Cheney Washington.........and as I sit, I have already seen...but for our children who need to see what earth is like and learn to love it in a way so few do.....I pray for peace....peace in nature and in this world....

Picture Scanned on Microtech i800 from
4x6" colour print. Film-Kodak...

....oh yes...I only lived 10 miles south of this picture...in an ocean home we rented.....so close....

Hi Bob,
I would love to swim in that sea.
Warm colours and an excellant composition.
Well done,
Joey

Beautiful blue-green colors and great curves in the composition. Makes the ocean feminine. :)

Hi Bob,
Splendid seascape here. Rich saturated colours and the soothing ambience is exquisitely captured here. Looks so fresh amd ravishing. A wonderful place to be in leave aside a regaling swim in the calm and desolate beach. Very nicely composed. Kudos.
TFS.

Your eloquent portrayals of your life moments in time are always such a pleasure to read Bob. Looks like asuch a great area to kick off the shoes and walk along the sandy shores for awhile.

Excellent composition.

Hello Bob,
green sea and orange sand are really an unusual match, but so charming. Lucky man who had seen such a spectacle!

Violetta

I'm a sucker for landscapes, Bob. That's why I go to your picture of yesterday which I misssed because of my internet problems.
1981 looks like long time back now; I was young then with lust for life gushing out of every pore of my being. In 2007, it is just a trickle!
What a pristine necklace-like beach you looked at and photographed 26 years ago! I love this composition with contrasting colors.
I'm with you in your prayers for peace in nature and the world, my friend.
Regards.

""I was never displeased with the ocean."" Amen!

What more needs to be said? Its moods are many; its colours ever changing; yet the sea is the sea, the ocean remains oceanic.

You captured a nice bay here Bob with great aqua-green water and sky-blue above.
I prefer the "nude" photo [ without a frame, as it is somewhat overwhelming]. See WS.

Tfs, Jay
