This is a woodpecker shot from a long time ago. I had posted one from the same series when I placed a suet cake in my flower box. I miss her these days, since that cake was so messy I decided not to do it again. I hear her calls on occasion but have yet to see her on the trees she frequents near our deck. So this is a walk down memory lane for me. Cheers to all.

Hi Penny,
Nice pic. The details are very vivid. What is a suet cake?
Subhayan.
Hallo Penny
Thanks for sharing your walk down memory lane with us with this photo of the woodpecker. Love the pose you have captured it in with a sunflower seed in its mouth. This bird has got a lovely set of plumage and I especially like the black and white striped head, and the light brown spot just above the eyes. The size they can open their claws to get a good grip is remarkable and one can see it quite clear in your image. I have not as yet had the opportunity to photograph any kind of woodpeckers, although I know they are there as I can hear them pecking away. I have only seen a glimpse of them, but that's all. Thanks for sharing and have an enjoyable day.
Best regards
Anna
