[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I was attracted to the contrasts in this scene:
1. Live trees/Dead Tree
2. Light rocky ledge/dark forested valley
3. The forest of "cloned" evergreens/lone twisted snag

This was taken along the Grinnell Glacier Trail.

Hi Evelynn. I like the way the shale rock patterns seem to draw you down. Very nice. Trevor

Hi Evelynn

I am attracted by the abstract nature of this shot - the contrast in textures and colours is really effective.

Hi Evelynn,
Don't get too close! I can really see what drew you to this composition, the contrasts are indeed striking. I expecially like the chaotic, random textures and patterns of the Granite and dead tree placed against the uniformity of the 'clones' far below. You have managed to generate a real feeling of height here, i like it!
Thanks for sharing

Hi Evelynn,
Wonderful shot and the contrasts really compliment each other well. Nice colours and details and I like the BG conifers forming vertical lines. The FG rocky surface looks fabulous too. Great light management and a marvellous composition. Kudos.

Hi Evelynn!

I feel the same attraction as you did. Your picture is full of delughtful contrasts without being overloaded. The lighting is as contrastful as the subjects in your picture. I especially like those strange and bright fingers formed by the dead branches pointing the dark and living forest. Wonderful symbols...

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Evelynn,

Woah! I honestly feel like I'm falling!
Those vertical Pines are a superb addition to the photo.
Exceptional POV (I guess you don't get vertigo!) and a fantastic composition.
Great detail and clarity.
A really stunning shot Evelynn!
Cheers,
Joe

Hello Evelynn,
The array of colors and textures in this beautiful compostion are amazing. But to me the icing on the cake is the grey snag at the edge, the years it must have struggled for life and all the twists and turns of its branches. I would never do it but I would wonder how many growth rings it has, I bet very many. Thanks Evelynn for your fine work again.
Rick

Yuppers...I see all those contrast as well...rough/smoother...bright/darker...etc...and it all is defined, or most, by the diagonal composition! It is that artists eye in you which see the patterns which sometimes other miss!
Bob

I can see how you would be drawn to such a scene Evelynn. Nice contrasts.

Hi Evelyn,
the dead tree almost looks like a chinese dragon.
You did mention all what I also appreciate in this photograph.
Beautiful sharp textures of the rock.

Hello Evelynn

The uniformity of the vertical conifers making up the top diagonal (BG) portion of the shot is brilliant.
Wonderful textures,mosses and lichens.
Thoughtfully composed.
Well focused with very good exposure.
