[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a photo taken in the Valley of Fire State Park. The Valley of Fire is Nevada's oldest and largest state park, covering 36,000 acres. The park is located 55 miles North of Las Vegas, near Overton NV. just off Interstate 15. The park has a vast area of geological formations of red sandstone, limestone, and shale. The park is located in the Mojave Desert. Temperatures in winter ranges from freezing, to 75 degrees. In the summer, it can get over 120 degrees during the day. The park also contains some petrified trees, and 3000 year old petroglyphs from ancient tribes.

Erosion will eventually topple this formation, but when. Hundreads of years? Thousands of Years? Only time and mother nature will tell.

I found this superb rock formation very late in the day. The formation was in deep shade, with the setting sun lighting up the mountains in the backround. I took several bracketed shots, and this was the best one.

In photoshop I ran levels and sharpened. I also had to boost saturation in the sky.

Very good details, DOF and colours.
Maybe the foreground is little dark but thats a smaller nit.

This is Tintin's nemesis in Flight 474 - Rastopoupopus of some name like that, th same beaut of a nose, pot belly. rtc. Espscially clear on the thumbnail. Nice post and note too, put a big smile on my face, good way to start the day.

Hi Scott - looks like scene from western movie or Lucky Luk cartoon :-) Superb landscape, light and colours.

This is quite a nice landscape. In my opinion you could have brought out the detail of the ballancing rock further and improved the contrast in the sky. I have done a workshop to show you how if your interested.

You know this was the sort of image I was hoping to see back from Mars or even Titan Scott. A great shot with many levels. I maybe would have liked to seen the foreground a little brighter but not as much as the workshop. Well done.

I like the contrasting dark foreground against the lighter background. Very good picture and interesting note.

Looking at the picture one cann't help waiting for the stone to faal down:-) - the way of nature really are strange some times. Looks just like a man.

Very nice colours and good dof. The cropping is excellent.

It's beautyfull! I had a déjá vu, when I'm saw that, because it look like the Red Sea. It's so extreme!
