[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a photo taken in the Valley of Fire State Park. The Valley of Fire is Nevada's oldest and largest state park, covering 36,000 acres. The park is located 55 miles North of Las Vegas, near Overton NV. just off Interstate 15. The park has a vast area of geological formations of red sandstone, limestone, and shale. The park is located in the Mojave Desert. Temperatures in winter ranges from freezing, to 75 degrees. In the summer, it can get over 120 degrees during the day. The park also contains some petrified trees, and 3000 year old petroglyphs from ancient tribes.

The very late afternoon setting sun made the coloring spectacular. The angle of the light created very long shadows. The picture reminded me of a moonscape, or a scene from the movie Red Planet.

WaoW!
J'aime beaucoup le contraste des rouges à l'avant-plan avec les montagnes ombragées en arrière-plan.
On se croirait vraiment dans un endroit qui n'est pas sur notre planète... de quoi faire rêve la NASA !

Very good Scott.
I like this red tone, it's a little dramatic view.
Very good POV, colours and composition.
Very well done.

I would say rather a landscape of March but as I did not go either on the moon or over March I cannot determine the correctness of my statements.
What I can say is this landscape is beautifull and what it gives me the taste to go there to see it with my eyes.
A great post: picture and note.
Thanks.

Great shot Scott,
Nice colours and POV.
I agree with Luc, it certainly gives you the taste to go and see it.
Thanks for posting.

Great shot, very nice relief and great warm colours.
Well done.
TFS.

great colours and composition, I like the red lights
very well done scott

Scott, Just watched "Red Planet" again recently & you're exactly right. Looks just like a scene from the movie..Hey, maybe they shot some scenes there! Great landscape shot! TFS

Scott, you are the Master!! Another wonderful image. The warm colours in the forground are a great contrast with the background. I love it! Thanks.

This is a very beautiful landscape. Late afternoon colours are great and the 3 different distances captured adds a good prespective. The name of the park is very well chosen. Thanks for the informative note.
PD: It would definately be a perfect moon landscape if you posted in B&W :D

It looks like Mars. The red planet. Exceptional light in the exposure. Well seen and taken.

Hi Scott
TFS this lovely piece of your beautiful country - this is one place I would love to visit someday, nevermind Disneyland and Hollywood, your vast open plains and red sandstones, imprinted on my mind through many years of Louis L'Amour. Love this openess and the colours here. Well done,

Rename this one "Red Planet" and we can add it to sAner's movie title theme!

Great colors, wonderful lighting, a spectacular sight.

Hi Scott,
What a beautiful landscape!
Very nice colour, excellent composition, very good lighting, great POV and DOF.
Very good shot!

If I wouldn't see it with my eyes, I would bet that this is some Patnfinder's picture taken on Mars.
Superb landscape.

Regards, Petru

Hello Scott
Amaizing landscape, maybe you must rename it as Marscape, by the colors and rock forms.
Good light and composition.
Well done

Hello Scott,
Very nice view with amazing light. I remember the "Red Planet" movie - yes, indeed it could be there :-) I like very much the contrast and the distant misty mountain range.
Best greetings,
Michal
