Hi All!
I feel as if I've been away for weeks... and I probably have been! I have just about completed a big photo presentation I've been working on. Then in the middle of that I got a new computer, new monitor and new operating system. Unfortunately I still have the same old brain so I've had a lot to learn!

This photo was taken about an hour from my home. We have had three times normal precipitation this year! Here it has mostly been in the form of rain, but nearby Cascade mountains are buried in snow. Much of the area is completely inaccessible. Why I titled the photo "Illusion" is that it looks like a tiny waterfall. In actuality it is 136 feet (41.45 Meters) tall. The photo is two shots stitched together but even that didn't help.

I hope to get back to TN on a more regular basis soon!

Hi Evelynn,

I am puzzling with this image, is that a cave in the coniferous forest?
Nicely captured.

Wow! Incredible shot. Gorgeous capture with wonderful snow...

And here is the kicker...

I took a telephoto shot from the same spot as yours just 8 days earlier... BIG difference...

Hello Evelynn,
So glad to see you post again, it has been awhile. This is a wonderful capture, but I find it difficult to look at for along time at once. The snow on the trees seem to glow back at me. Great work on the image as it shows me well what your notes elude to, thanks Evelynn.

Hi Evelynn!

Welcome back to TN! And congratulations for that surprising picture. I personally don't have too many difficulties concerning the dimensions of the waterfall. The trees help to get about the right impression of the height. The fact that the fall is a bit lost among all those trees makes that picture an outstanding one. To underline this effect I imagine the same picture without the two dark trunks on the right.

I hope you will be soon familiar with your new computer!

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Evelynn

Nice to see you back :) The trees must be enormous too - something we do not see - on this scale in the UK. I like the regularity of the shot which you have cleverly broken with the strong verticals of the waterfall and the tree trunks.

Hi Evelynn

Wow...this really does feel like an illusion :)
And it also feels like more than a few weeks... :) Nice to see you again! Hope all is well :)

This is one very interesting shot!
I guess you took this one with a zoom lens and also because of the POV, the perspective here is so compressed that it really gives one a fake sense of perspective and size. I love that...it's confusing and that's why it's so cool...it makes you look at it over and over again :)
Very original work!

Bravo and TFS

Hi Evelynn,
Good to see you posting again. it took me a while to see the color, but I finally found the shades of green.
I have to say that I have a hard time concentrating on the waterfall. The texture of the trees keep on distracting me from your main subject. In the end I am more focused toward the two trees on the right than on the falls. But it could be that my eyes are too tired and that I need to look at it again with fresh eyes.
TFS,
Niek

Hello Evelynn,

Hi evelynn

Indeed a great illusion; big trees. There are so many patterns to look at in this shot, and its hard to believe its colour not b&w.
A mesmerising shot, well done.

Chris
