[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was taken directly behind South Falls at our local Silver Falls State Park. For other images of this park go to Silver Falls posts

I cannot look at this image without my fingers hurting. I had to take off my gloves to take the shot, but my fingers would be too numb to feel the shutter button within a second or two. It is a large waterfall and it creates its own wind. That combined with the mist, which created these icicles, was bone numbing. Then, because of the mist, my hands would be wet and wouldn't slip back into the gloves.... and try wiping frozen mist off a lens! Add to that the roar of the falls and you may get a sense of what it was like. Ooooh the lengths we will go to for a photo op!!

Hi Evelyn

I really like this shot - it is so sharp! The green/broen rock make the ice stand out really well. TFS James

Rob

You really caught the texture of these icicles.
Very impressive ice formations presented in an amazing composition.
I would imagine it takes a lot of skills to capture the texture and luminosity of these ice sculptures.
Fantastic work and TFS. : )

Hi Evelynn,
Great to see you post a more abstract shot as well. Your composition with the ice leading away from you is great. Just love all the details you were able to capture and the perfect sharpness of those in the front. One has to suffer to create something beautiful.
TFS,
Niek

Oh come on Evelyn! Nothing is as bad as the weather in Toronto, Canada in February! hahahha! Just kidding....I was there and yes...it was very cold....I almost didn't make it with all the ice on the road! Wonderful shot maybe you should go to somewhere warmer to thaw out...

Take care!
