This image was taken from along the trail that leads from the Johnstone Ridge Observatory in the afternoon. I arrived at sunrise and selected a point along the trail and stationed myself there all day in hopes of observing some activity within the crater. Luckily, a large rockfall occured from the spine, or what is called the whalesback, a large rock that was rising from within the vent had pushed out hot basaltic lava that then circumnavigated down the sides of the cone. I capturd many images of the rockfall that I will post daily.
I took this with a digital Samsung accompanied with a Pentax 80-200mm 2.8 and a polorizer. |
