Where do house sparrows live besides on my back porch?
House Sparrows live almost all over the world. They are originally from Europe, Northern Africa, and most of Asia. House Sparrows are introduced to the Americas. They are not a migratory bird, which means they doe not migrate. They are found in North America and the Caribbean. Alaska is the only state that it does not live in the U.S. That is where the House Sparrows live.

This one was like another one...and the other one look like one previous...wasn't just a minute before. Maybe they are all one and I am just seeing poorly:-) I have cleaned my feeder but the only "dirt" was the bird droppings. This would mean if they spread an eye disease to finches, then it is not really through the feeder. The feeder is only a common meeting place. Sort of like how humans pick up colds. We are supposed to wash our hands after going shopping and sharing things like shopping carts, fruits, veggies and such. But that still leave unclear how long bacteria live on the surface of one thing or another. Seems to me that unless something becomes pandemic then it is just a normal thing in nature and humans. If we were without disease totally then overpopulation would eventually wipe us out. Come to think of it...we are getting close to that breaking point as I type..

As for your picture a good close up of the bird with good detail and natural colours. . he had his eye on you. well done tFS. have a good weekahead.

The light is shining on this little one, Bob. Beautiful. And if you observe carefully, those sparrows are different each one from the other ;-) And here the population of sparrows is declining fast. In St-Alphonse we don't have them at all, maybe it's because of the forest around here. As for overpopulation, it's all in the cities, more and more, going crazy isn't it? Thanks for those thoughts and beautiful picture,

Francine

You are a wonderful philosopher, Bob!
This sparrow is just questioning why you are taking a shot of it! Thank goodness they don't ask for royalties ... yet!

Great capture!
Like me, you seem to have a lot of sparrows visiting, whereas the general trend with these gregarious little birds seems to be a slow decline.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

A BEAUTIFULLY writen statement.... so very true.
Hello, Bob.
It is looking right at you.
WONDERFUL imagery!!!

I think that is a KIWI sparrow Bob. One that has found it's way from my house to yours. Our arrived in NZ on boats in the 19th century. . .

Very similar as our male sparrows in spring / summer with their mating colours.

He knows you're there too - and he's keeping his eye on you my friend.
Good catch
Janice

Hi Bob,

The house sparrow is enjoying his meal at your house. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the bird.. The subject is well frame. The light is giving soft and warm colors. Have a nice day.
