This bee is about 1/4" inch long against a Black Eyed Susan. I had to get very close in but he was so small I was not intimidated and his legs show he has been busy doing well what bees do. With continuing health problems and heat...the best that I have been able to do this summer was to get into the surrounding gardens. My bee shots must certainly show what my main subject has been..and thak ful I am that I wa blessed by this Leica which almost does all by itself...the lens is superior...

Yes this is a super lens Bob.
It not only allows this very small bee to be captured with fine sharpness but allows a DOF that gives a nice OOF Bg.
But it's not just the lens, it's the operator too!
Interesting to see that all the legs collect pollen, not just the pollen baskets of the hind legs like with the honey bee.
All the best,
Ivan

Hello Bob

A powerful image - small bee is captured perfectly by you.

James

Hi Bob,

The subject is well framed. The close-up view is showing the details and colors of the center of the flower and of the bee which is covered with pollen. The light is well managed and it is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Bob,
Beautiful photo in clear colours. The bee, full of pollen, has a useful destination, I think. Excellent sharpness and details. Good DOF and POV.
Regards,
Peter

Great capture Bob... this guy has been swimming in the pollen... his work to complete. :)

I pray for your return to full health Bob and hope the heat dissipates a bit for you out there.

Leica lens... nothing like them... ;)

Larry

Ah, I think we shot the same bee, my friend! They are everywhere, are they not? What I really like about this photo is how small the bee is in relation to the rest of the flower. He's quite obviously a busy bee! The lighting is good and the depth of field really helps bring the little buzzer into focus. Nice job!
Kathy :-)

ps: thanks for all the encouragement as of late- couldn't ask for a better friend!

Hi Bob,I wish the best for Jane and yours heath. Nice capture of this little guy all coverd in pollen. TFS
Best Regards
Tom

They call me mellow yellow, that's right! They call me mellow yellow, ouh ouhhhou. Bright and sunny picture, Bob! Lovely details, the bee is filled with pollen! Life is everywhere and even if you don't go far, it's buzzing with bells and yellow flowers!

Francine

A superb shot ,Bob...I can see the smallest of details so clearly!

Hello Bob,
This is nice and bright with the pollen-covered Cellophane Bee in focus. I remember we had a discussion about the reduction of Honey Bees last year; I wonder if they're more common with you this year as with us? Here they've been busily buzzing about all summer.
TFS and regards, Ulla
