The lonely and dying remains of a simple leaf, but oh what a life it had. It's life started out so young as a bud and then turned green and flora came along to attract "things" to perch upon it!

In this leafs life it has seen dragonflies, butterfly's, moths, creepy crawlers, ants, yellow jackets, bumble bees and so much more. And in return it gave of its fruits and colours and readily gave up parts of itself in an almost sacramental way. Some creepers ate it...as did some grasshoppers and I'll bet way to many things which I never saw. I wonder in the recess of my wondering mind....did this simple leaf somehow know what it did? Does it know it had a purpose. Well today I give it the reward it is due...an image of it among so many others...but considering the trillions of leaves over millions of years....this leaf has now its own special place....and this too shall pass. So might it be---so may it be written.

Hello Bob,
Interesting image...a reminder of what happens in nature. A tattered remnant of a grand life that has withered and soon will be only a memory. TFS.

Hi Bob,

I'll keep it simple "Nice one mate" :)

Cheers Rick ....

Great colors, details, and textures Bob.
I like the comp, and the reds of the leaf contrast your BG well.
Nice one :)

A good digression indeed on this tiny, dying leaf Bob, I wonder how much oxygen it produced during its period of photosnthesis before turning into pleasant to observe reds and browns...

Hello Robert,

This is a good depiction of the decay of autumn!
End of summer means the end of much of the life in nature, and this leaf symbolizes this process very well...
Good texture and colours, well framed with sharp details!

Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Bob!

Deep, thoughtful and touching... these are the thre principl characteristics, from my point of view, of your posting. Both, the text and the picture, invite for reflection and meditation. Your description of the leaf's life, the sense of its existance is arousing the interest of reading the entire text and of continuing the thoughts. I also appreciate the fact that you want to give the reward to a simple leaf. And I ask myself if "simple" is the appropriate adjective...

Kind regards

Markus
